About the venue
The New Union is a historic hotel and showbar in Manchester’s Gay Village, combining accommodation with one of the area’s long-running LGBTQ+ bars. The venue’s appeal is rooted in a lively, traditional pub-and-showbar atmosphere rather than a polished cocktail-bar feel.
Entertainment regularly centres on drag cabaret, karaoke, DJs and themed nights, giving the New Union a strong social character throughout the week. It attracts a broad range of visitors, from local regulars to people staying in the city specifically for the Gay Village.
Its central position near Canal Street makes it easy to include in a wider night out. The mix of hotel, bar and entertainment venue also gives the New Union a slightly different role in Manchester’s LGBTQ+ scene from the clubs and late-night bars nearby.
