About the venue
The Actors is a community-focused pub and theatre in central Brighton, close to the Royal Pavilion and Kemptown. It explicitly positions itself as a safe and welcoming space for LGBTQIA+ communities and communities from the global majority.
Unlike a conventional gay bar, The Actors combines a pub with a programme of theatre, cabaret, poetry, music, comedy and community-led events. That gives it a strong cultural identity and makes it useful for visitors looking for queer spaces beyond late-night clubbing.
The venue’s programme changes frequently and often includes collaborations with local performers and LGBTQ+ groups. It is therefore worth checking what is on rather than expecting the same format every night, but the underlying focus on inclusive arts and community remains consistent.
